Design our Christmas Card Competition

Boy drawing a card

Are you a New South Wales school child in either Kindergarten, Years 1 – 6 or 7 – 12?

Do you like drawing?

If so, our Department is keen to receive your entry in our Christmas Card Design Competition.

The Department of Water and Energy (DWE) is sending electronic Christmas cards this year and donating the money otherwise spent on purchasing and sending paper cards to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.  The three winning designs – one from Kindergarten, one from years 1 – 6 and one from years 7 – 12 – will be used for our electronic cards for emailing this Christmas.  The cards will be emailed to hundreds of individuals, companies and organisations bearing our Christmas greeting.

We are looking for colourful freehand designs which illustrate the Department’s role.  DWE incorporates most of the functions of the former Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability (DEUS) and the water-related functions of the former Department of Natural Resource (DNR) as well as the Metropolitan Water Directorate formerly in The Cabinet Office.

Take a look at the Water for Life website – www.waterforlife.nsw.gov.au - to get some inspiration.

The winning entries – which will be judged by the Department’s staff – will each receive a book voucher to the value of $100 and a $100 book voucher for your school.  All entries will remain the property of the Department of Water and Energy.

So, use a plain paper A4 sheet and create something colourful.  On the back of your entry (please be careful not to press too heavily so your details do not show through to your drawing), neatly write your:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Telephone Contact
  • Age
  • Year you are in at school
  • School name
  • School address

Please remember not to fold the paper, and then send your entry to:

Your entry must be received at the Department by Friday 23 November 2007.

Winners will be notified by mail and their First Name, Age and School will be published on the Department’s website.  The First Name, Age and School of the winning entries will also appear on the electronic cards when emailed.

Children of staff employed by the Department at the closing date for entries may submit a drawing but are ineligible to be awarded a prize.
